Making Money But Don’t Know Where It’s Going? Let’s Look at What’s Actually Happening.
Have you ever had a month where you made good money and then looked at your account and thought,
Wait… where’d it all go?
On paper, things look good.
You’re working. Clients are coming in. Money is moving.
And yet… you’re not totally sure if you’re actually doing well.
If that’s you, you’re not the only one.
I’ve worked with a lot of business owners in this exact spot.
(And I’ve been there myself, too.)
So what’s actually going on?
It’s usually not that you’re “bad with money.”
It’s more that no one ever really showed you how to look at it properly in your business.
And because of that, it becomes this thing you check occasionally, avoid completely, or save for later.
Meanwhile, you’re making decisions every single day.
Pricing decisions.
Hiring decisions.
Spending decisions.
Without a super clear picture of what’s actually happening with your numbers.
🎥 I recorded a full video breaking this down and walking through what to actually look for in your numbers. If you’d rather watch or listen, you can catch it here:
The simple shift most people aren’t making
You don’t need to become a financial expert overnight (that’s impossible!)
But you do need some kind of rhythm with your numbers.
At a minimum:
a quick weekly check-in
and a deeper monthly review
The weekly check-in is just awareness.
What came in, what went out, anything weird or unexpected.
The monthly review is where things start to click.
That’s when you’re actually looking at:
your profit
your expenses
your cash
So instead of thinking, “I’m busy, so I must be doing well. Right?” the question becomes:
Is my business actually sustainable?
A few things to actually look at
When you sit down to review your numbers, here are some of the questions I want you thinking about.
(These are questions sustainable businesses are looking at on the regular.)
Are you actually profitable… or just bringing in revenue?
Do you have enough cash in the bank to cover your expenses without stress?
Are you paying yourself regularly… or just taking what’s left over?
Is your income steady… or does it feel all over the place?
Are your expenses under control… or slowly creeping up?
Are you relying on credit cards more than you’d like?
Are your books accurate and up to date?
And most importantly…
7. Do you actually understand what your numbers are telling you?
Your numbers aren’t the problem
Newsflash! True story…
You might feel like your bank account is judging you sometimes, but it’s not.
Your numbers aren’t here to shame you.
They’re just showing you what’s happening.
That feeling you get when you look at them? That’s coming from somewhere else.
And if we’re being honest… that usually goes a deeper than the bank balance. Money stories, old patterns, things you picked up a long time ago. It’s not actually the numbers themselves.
What the numbers are doing is telling you a very straightforward, non-emotional, nonfiction story about your business.
But if you’re not looking at them regularly (or if they’re not accurate to begin with), then you’re left guessing.
And that’s where it gets harder to trust your business decisions.
Where this starts to spill into everything else
When your finances feel unclear, it doesn’t stay contained.
It shows up in other areas too.
You’re not sure if you can afford to hire, even though you know you need help.
You try to plan ahead, but you don’t really know what to budget for.
You hesitate on decisions because you don’t have enough clarity.
Or you move forward anyway… and just hope it works out. 🤞
If you’re ready to clean this up a bit
There are a couple different directions you can go, depending on where you’re at.
If your books are behind or messy…
We can absolutely help you get everything cleaned up and organized.
And right now, through April 30th, we’re still running this month’s special:
👉 When you sign up for a 3-month back work or cleanup project,
you’ll get your first month of ongoing bookkeeping for free.
So if you don’t even have accurate numbers to look at yet… that’s step one.
Check out the monthly special here.
If your numbers are there… but you want help making decisions
This is where my hybrid consulting comes in.
This is less about just organizing your numbers…
and more about actually sitting down together and working through:
your cash flow
your budget
your goals
your next moves in the business
Because it’s never just about the numbers.
If that’s the kind of support you’re looking for, you can check out The Vision to Execution Accelerator, which is my 12-week 1:1 program where we go deeper into all of this.
If you’re not sure which direction makes sense for you, that’s okay too.

And if nothing else…
Take some time this week and actually look at your numbers.
Don’t just glance at them.
Sit with them for a minute.
They’ve probably been trying to tell you something.
